Use an underscore ‘_’ to create a separation between words, otherwise name will not register. Note: The name should not contain any blank spaces. The recommended name for the Options file is vendor.opt, where vendor is the vendor daemon name ( e.g.: for the ESRI ArcGIS vendor: arcgis.opt is recommended). Locating the Options file in a different folder is possible, but this requires FLEXlm to be configured to search for it in that particular location.Ģ. The Options file should be placed under the same directory as the vendor daemon file, in order to enable FLEXlm to read it automatically.
FLEXLM RESERVE LICENSE LICENSE
The OpenLM solution incorporates synchronization of License administration tools with the organization’s LDAP (Active Directory), keeping the FLEXlm Options file up-to-date as users leave or join the organization, or move between groups.ġ. Although this method fits the licensing requirements well, the process of creating and maintaining Options files is error-prone and difficult to maintain. Restrict the number of licenses availableĬontrol the amount of information logged about license usageĬontrol the automatic rereading of licensesįLEXlm Options files are implemented as text files, located on the license server. Licensed features can be dedicated, denied or reserved to users or groups of users, as well as Hosts, IPs, and Host Groups according to the Options file setting.Įmploying FLEXlm Options file, the license administrator can: # bsub -R "rusage" -q serial_application parallel_application <-for parallel job submission.FLEXlm ( FlexNet publisher ) Options files grant license administrators close control over various operating parameters within the constraints of the license model. Make sure a job is submitted by using the following command line: Refer to the URL for details to configure a dynamic shared resource via elim: Īfter doing the above steps, do the following commands as the LSF administrator to reload new configurations:
As an example, a dynamic shared resource with the name parallel_lic has been defined correctly in the lsf.shared and lsf.clusters. If the MBD_SLEEP_TIME is 10 seconds, then after specifying the RESOURCE_RESERVE parameter, the user defined dynamic resource defined in lsf.shared can be reserved for 10 MBD_SLEEP_TIME cycles(100s) for a job.Ģ) Add the following configuration into the lsb.resources file. Note, the integer 10 in "RESOURCE_RESERVE = MAX_RESERVE_TIME" may be adjusted according to the real requirement.
FLEXLM RESERVE LICENSE SERIAL
One solution to get around the above problem is depicted as follows.ġ) Add "RESOURCE_RESERVE = MAX_RESERVE_TIME" in the queue to which both the parallel and serial jobs are submitted.
This effectively makes the parallel jobs the lowest priority. When the cluster is busy and jobs start to pend waiting on a 'parallel' license to become available, parallel jobs that require 4 'parallel' licenses don't run until there are no serial jobs (that require only one 'parallel' license) left in the queue.

A shared software license is set up in LSF as a dynamic resource using an elim to query a FlexLM license service.
